SILVER MAKING PROCESS

Now, I would like to give you information how to make silver handycraft.

The material are silver and copper.In Indonesia we have silver mine in west of java,we take in the cave.Basicly pure silver like powder but pure silver or 100% silver it’s too soft,so we need copper to make more harder.

The best composition is 100% silver and 7,5% copper.We melting in the fusion bowl with blue gas about 750 degree celcius and then take in the mold and result be silver bar alloy 92,5% or we called sterling silver.

But silver like gold,many quality also.In this shop we have 3 quality of silver.The best one is 92,5% never change the colour because the silver 92,5% you can clean again,number 2 is 80%,number 3 is 70% and the lowest quality is silver plated.

Back to the process.After silver bar,we can make silver flat and silver wire.

To make siver flat,we need silver bar and then we pounding by hammer.

To make silver wire,we need silver bar and press with machine press to be stick of silver.To make the smallest wire we use draw plate.

First,stick of silver we inside in the biggest hole from the draw plate,pull with pliers and then rolling with manual machine roll step by step until the smallest hole.The smallest wire about 0,5 mm,but it’s not single anymore because we make double or twister.

For example,how to make bross with silver wire.First,we make frame out side and then inside in the frame we make motif or ornament with pinset one by one.After full,how to keep it together,we need silver powder and then soldering with fire.

Usually after solder the colour change to be black or brown.To make white again we boil with sulfat alumunium about 15 minuet and the colour white again.

For the last process make it shine,to make it shine we have natural soup to polish silver.We called Lerak Fruit.Lerak Fruit is natural soap to maintenance any metal because the fruit to be foam like soap.This fruit is better because natural,no alkohol and no chemical.So,keep a long shine.

How to use it? Inside the normal water,peel the skin,brush in the tooth brush and we get a foam.That foam to polish the silver.
